About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Deliver new business and sales growth through existing and prospect accounts focused on small/mid-size corporations
- Build and strengthen relationships with CHROs and HR executives
- Understand corporations’ needs and identify gaps, unmet needs, and unknown needs
- Use SHRM membership, education, training, products, certification programs, advertising, events, and speaking engagements to develop winning proposals
- Grow SHRM’s US business through consultative sales and tailored solutions
- Collaborate with Marketing Audience Segment leaders on information, initiatives, ideas, challenges, product development, and go-to-market strategies
- Build internal relationships to stay current on SHRM services and products and influence developments and outcomes
- Gain a thorough understanding of SHRM’s organization and product/service offerings
- Assure client satisfaction through effective account management
- Deepen and broaden relationships with key clients to create annuity revenue for SHRM
- Work in a typical office or home-office environment, including prolonged computer use and occasional standing, walking, bending, and reaching
- Travel moderately, approximately 20–30%
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Business Management or Communications preferred, or relevant equivalent experience in lieu of degree
- Five (5) or more years of B2B sales, enterprise sales, HR tech, SaaS, or HCM sales
- Experience driving sales of HR-related programs or services (or equivalent products/services) at the executive level using consultative sales techniques
- Successful past performance in business development, including developing customer relationships, account strategies, qualified pipelines, and large-scale deals
- Ability to interpret internal or external issues and recommend solutions/best practices
- Ability to solve complex problems and identify solutions from a broad perspective
- Exemplary written and oral communication skills
- Strong executive presence and ability to connect quickly on significant business topics
- Strong client relationship management and account management skills
- Ability to understand SHRM products and services and bundle offerings creatively to meet client requirements
- Agility and flexibility in responding to issues and developing solutions
- Strong accountability for achieving results
- Ability to negotiate large-scale deals
- Ability to understand and communicate concepts quickly and accurately
- Accomplished proposal development and client presentation skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to effectively leverage AI tools and technologies
- Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation
- Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds as needed
- Availability during standard business hours, with core hours beginning between 8:00–9:00 a.m. and ending between 5:00–6:00 p.m.
