About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Analyze, service, and maintain the Proton Particle Accelerator
  • Partner with the Site Technical Leader to develop knowledge and experience
  • Progress toward Shift Leader or Technical Area Leader responsibilities
  • Coach new and less experienced engineers in Clinical Operations, System Operation, and technical subject matter
  • Use software data sources to make data-driven decisions and integrate corrective and preventative actions
  • Perform in-depth system analysis for complex repairs and system optimization
  • Identify major parts and sub-assemblies and explain their functionality
  • Install and upgrade complex company products according to technical documentation and company guidelines
  • Manage manpower scheduling and business demands
  • Manage service escalations, management notifications, and customer communications
  • Deliver customer, internal associate, vendor, and educational presentations
  • Act as technical point of contact for Product Support Engineering, Software Engineering, Manufacturing, and other support groups
  • Schedule and manage Service Technical Bulletins and preventive maintenance according to the site PM plan and regulatory requirements
  • Provide customer-centric support with system fundamentals and operation
  • Create shift assignments and provide detailed work instructions
  • Participate in educational activities related to FDA medical device compliance, quality management systems, and corrective and preventative actions
  • Use Microsoft Office Suite, SAP, Salesforce, Siemens PLC GUI, and Varian Treatment Control applications
  • Recognize potential system risks and failures, collect evidence, and determine when to escalate

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Associate degree or equivalent 3 - 5 years of related experience in the high-tech industry or military
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Professional experience with high voltage
  • Experience reading and navigating complex system schematics and drawings
  • Electronic and electro-mechanical engineering experience
  • Professional experience with micro-computers/PC-based systems/PLCs
  • Experience with precision tools and diagnostic equipment, including calipers, torque wrench, DVMs, oscilloscopes, drills, and soldering
  • Experience or knowledge of imaging systems/X-Rays
  • Experience or knowledge of Radio Frequency (RF)
  • Experience or knowledge with high vacuum
  • Experience or knowledge with vacuum leak checks/detection
  • Experience or knowledge of electro-magnetic fields
  • Experience or knowledge of maintaining calibrated electronic and/or mechanical equipment
  • Experience or knowledge of MATLAB and Twin SAFE software
  • Experience or knowledge of robot technology fundamentals
  • Experience or knowledge of cryogenics fundamentals
  • Ability to work a flex shift schedule: 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift, 8 hours/day; compressed work week of 10 or 12 hours/day or night, 3 or 4 days/week; rotating weekends
  • May be expected to travel up to 30% of the time
  • Must meet applicable Vendor Credentialing requirements for client-site access, which may include valid identification, criminal background checks, drug screens, immunizations, annual TB testing, and healthcare training
  • Must be able to work with controlled technology in accordance with US export control law
