About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead the Mission Ops software engineering squad
  • Manage and build a team of high-performing engineers
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to accelerate engineers' growth
  • Collaborate with Product and Go-To-Market teams to define a technical roadmap
  • Ensure delivery of high-quality software at high velocity while meeting reliability requirements for launch and live operations
  • Establish and refine engineering processes, agile rituals, and use of AI to accelerate development
  • Engage hands-on with architecture and code across frontend, APIs, and backend services
  • Contribute to high-impact features and resolve critical technical challenges
  • Own technical scope for user interfaces, APIs, and backend systems supporting machine and fleet monitoring, alerting, root-cause analysis, and issue resolution
  • Report directly to the VP of Engineering

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 7+ years in software engineering
  • 2+ years in a people management role
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, STEM, or a related field
  • Strong experience with distributed systems and web applications using Go, Rust, or Python
  • Experience with modern frontends built in React and TypeScript
  • Experience building real-time monitoring, alerting, or incident management systems
  • Familiarity with time-series data and event-driven architectures
  • Expertise in observability tools such as Grafana or Prometheus
  • Proven ability to guide teams through ambiguity
  • Track record of being a "force multiplier" for engineering talent
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident (Green Card Holder), or protected individual such as an asylee or refugee in compliance with ITAR/EAR regulations
  • Experience in aerospace, autonomous vehicles, robotics, defense, or energy is a bonus
  • Experience building mission control, ground systems, or fleet operations software is a bonus
  • Experience leading AI-first teams and AI initiatives is a bonus
  • Experience designing alerting, anomaly detection, or root-cause analysis workflows for operators is a bonus
