About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design and optimize browser-based data pipelines using Web Workers, Apache Arrow binary data, persistent OPFS caching, and multi-layer invalidation strategies
  • Build interactive visualizations for time-series telemetry, FFT frequency analysis, geographic mapping, and scatter plots
  • Solve browser performance problems, including bypassing React's render cycle, coordinating worker thread pools, managing large binary buffers, and determining main-thread versus off-thread architecture
  • Architect composable UI systems exposing high-fidelity hardware telemetry data
  • Collaborate with backend engineers on API design, binary serialization formats, and query semantics for structured data endpoints
  • Help evolve and scale Sift's early-stage data infrastructure platform for hardware engineering teams

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 7+ years building software for the web
  • Strong TypeScript skills
  • Experience working in a React codebase
  • Systems-level understanding of memory layout, thread coordination, caching strategies, and data serialization formats
  • Experience building software where correctness and performance could not be traded off
  • U.S. Person required: U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or protected individual such as an asylee or refugee
  • Compliance with ITAR/EAR regulations
  • Bonus: GPU-accelerated browser rendering experience (WebGL, WebGPU, Canvas 2D)
  • Bonus: Technical visualization at scale (D3, ECharts, custom renderers)
  • Bonus: Binary data formats or columnar data processing experience (Arrow, Parquet, protobuf, FlatBuffers)
  • Bonus: Web Workers, SharedArrayBuffer, OPFS, or other browser threading/storage APIs
  • Bonus: Experience in aerospace, scientific computing, medical devices, financial systems, or similar
  • Bonus: Experience building previously nonexistent infrastructure such as caching layers, data processing pipelines, rendering engines, or developer tools
