About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Monitor and analyze state legislative and regulatory developments affecting Signature Aviation and the aviation industry
  • Coordinate internal responses and prepare legislative summaries, issue briefs, presentations, talking points, and other government affairs materials
  • Build and maintain relationships with state and local elected officials, state agencies, municipal governments, airport sponsors, and other government stakeholders
  • Develop and maintain stakeholder maps and engagement plans for Signature's operating locations
  • Maximize the value of Signature's investments in national, state, and regional trade associations
  • Coordinate distribution of legislative updates, policy developments, best practices, and association resources across the organization
  • Identify opportunities for Signature leaders to participate in committees, leadership positions, speaking engagements, sponsorships, conferences, and other strategic initiatives
  • Track committee participation, sponsorships, and engagement opportunities
  • Develop new Government Relations programs, tools, and resources
  • Develop and coordinate a grassroots engagement program
  • Create and facilitate annual Government Relations training, playbooks, and engagement resources
  • Coordinate community engagement initiatives supporting business objectives
  • Maintain Government Relations databases, reporting tools, legislative trackers, and stakeholder resources
  • Partner with Operations, Legal, Communications, Commercial, Human Resources, and executive leadership
  • Support compliance with lobbying registration, ethics, and reporting requirements
  • Travel as needed for government affairs activities, industry meetings, conferences, and stakeholder engagement

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in Political Science, Public Administration, Public Policy, Communications, Business, Aviation Management, or a related field
  • Four to seven years of experience in government relations, legislative affairs, public policy, trade associations, public administration, or a related field
  • Strong understanding of state and local legislative and regulatory processes
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills
  • Strong relationship-building and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to translate policy developments into practical business insights
  • Experience supporting grassroots engagement, stakeholder outreach, or community engagement initiatives
  • Sound judgment, professionalism, and political awareness
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legislative or stakeholder tracking platforms
  • Self-motivated with a desire to learn, take ownership of projects, and contribute to the continued growth of the Government Relations function
  • Interest in building a long-term career in the aviation industry
  • Experience working in or with state and local government is strongly preferred
  • Experience with a trade association or advocacy organization is strongly preferred
  • Experience in aviation, transportation, infrastructure, or another regulated industry is preferred, but not required
