About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Provide dedicated people leadership, coaching, and mentorship to a co-located team of four software engineers
Foster career growth and technical development
Define and guide the technical strategy and roadmap for the API Gateway powering Sinch products
Ensure high standards of performance, scalability, and reliability
Lead the design, development, and company-wide rollout of a new centralized Event Delivery Platform over the next 6 to 12 months
Drive measurable outcomes through team health and performance
Drive successful platform adoption across SMS, Voice, Conversation API, and Numbers product lines
Decommission legacy systems within the first year
Act as the primary technical advocate for the team
Build partnerships with product managers, designers, and engineering teams to drive alignment and best practices across Sinch

Requirements

What you’ll need

Demonstrated technical leadership experience, typically gained in roles such as Tech Lead, Software Architect, Staff Engineer, or Principal Engineer, with a proven track record designing and operating highly available backend platform services
Previous engineering management experience is beneficial but not required
Strong expertise in the Java and Kotlin ecosystem, particularly Spring
Experience with modern cloud-native technologies such as AWS, Kubernetes, and microservices architectures
Deep understanding of software architecture, API gateways, and event-driven distributed systems
Experience building and operating critical infrastructure platforms at scale with a strong focus on quality, reliability, and operational excellence
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders and drive adoption of shared services across multiple engineering teams
Passion for people management, coaching, and team development
Candidates must be based locally or willing to commute to the Malmö office
