About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Oversee accounting operations and ensure all financial transactions are properly recorded and aligned with accounting standards
Help shape and implement the company’s overall accounting strategy
Ensure legal and fiscal compliance
Plan cash flow so expenses are paid on time and within budget
Oversee receivables, payables, and inventory controls in Odoo
Ensure proper reconciliations and accurate cost allocation aligned with the budget
Oversee tax obligations in Kenya, including preparation and submission of returns according to the KRA calendar
Manage tax audits, assessments, correspondence with the Kenya Revenue Authority, and tax records
Manage day-to-day accounting in line with IFRS and company policies
Lead the statutory audit and liaise with external auditors
Monitor compliance with accounting policies and procedures
Safeguard company assets and oversee inventory management
Support monthly stock-takes and keep write-offs below KES 0.5M per month
Maintain Odoo system integrity, data integrity, and system controls
Lead automation and efficiency initiatives
Document processes to support training
Coach and mentor the team, support training, and ensure updated job descriptions, competency frameworks, development plans, and regular performance reviews
Report to the Financial Controller and manage the Accountant and Senior Accountant

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field
CPA-K qualification or an equivalent professional qualification in Finance/Accounting
Experience in ERP; Odoo is an added advantage
Minimum 4 years in a finance and accounting department, with experience in ledger and cash flow management
Proven leadership and strong team management experience, including working with a multicultural team
Multinational work experience
Strong communication skills
Compliance focus and keen attention to detail
Passion for numbers and data
Honest, empathetic, energetic, and a problem solver with a doer mindset
Desire to positively impact the environment
Based in Nairobi, Kenya
