About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide clients with solutions to ensure appropriate reporting in accordance with ASC 740
- Work with specialists dedicated to accounting for income tax
- Work closely with clients' accounting departments to ensure proper reporting under U.S. GAAP and/or IFRS
- Prepare and lead client meetings on compliance and consulting projects related to tax planning opportunities and tax implications
- Maintain relationships with a diverse client base across various industries
- Assist firm leadership in identifying new opportunities and obtaining new engagements
- Maintain and develop strong client relationships on tax consulting and compliance engagements
- Manage engagement workflow, team resources, and billing
- Collaborate with other practice units to provide industry knowledge and insight
- Review engagement profitability and analyze monthly billing
- Review tax returns prepared by staff and recommend accuracy improvements and tax savings opportunities
- Research and analyze tax issues and implications
- Provide leadership, counseling, and career guidance to engagement team members
- Represent the firm at fundraisers, prospect and banker meetings, charitable events, and professional organizations
- Contribute to internal initiatives supporting firm growth, culture, tax content development, and technological advances
- Monitor current and proposed tax legislation, communicate potential impacts to clients, and assist with planning
Requirements
What you’ll need- CPA, J.D., LL.M., or Master's in Taxation required; Enrolled Agent (EA) credential accepted in place of a CPA
- Minimum of five years of public accounting experience providing tax planning services and/or preparing and reviewing client work papers and income tax returns
- Demonstrated experience with federal corporate tax returns (1120s), tax provision preparation and/or ASC 740 income tax accounting
- Ability to develop business and foster client relationships
- Strong leadership, training, and mentoring skills
- Excellent writing, communication, and tax research skills
