Key responsibilities & impact

  • Own hands-on engineering for identity, devices, and everyday internal applications
  • Lead complex technical issues and investigations through resolution
  • Serve as an escalation point for the IT Service Desk
  • Build and support tools and automation that make internal IT faster and easier to use
  • Plan, coordinate, and monitor changes to IT systems, processes, and infrastructure
  • Identify automation and operational-efficiency opportunities while assessing and mitigating risks
  • Partner with IT teams, business units, and stakeholders throughout the change process
  • Support and maintain hardware, servers, operating systems, networking, telecommunications, and databases
  • Analyze and recommend IT tools, technologies, and infrastructure improvements
  • Manage and monitor firewalls, antivirus, endpoint protection, and intrusion prevention systems
  • Participate in projects improving reliability, security, efficiency, and scalability
  • Manage Microsoft 365, Entra ID, and Intune, including accounts, licenses, groups, permissions, authentication, and access policies
  • Deploy, configure, secure, and maintain Windows and Mac devices through Intune and Iru
  • Provide employee technical support and resolve escalated issues, including root-cause analysis
  • Administer SaaS applications, SSO, provisioning, deprovisioning, and integrations
  • Build, deploy, and operate AI tools and agentic workflows for routine IT automation
  • Establish AI governance practices, including guardrails, logging, access controls, usage monitoring, and cost management
  • Evaluate and implement AI capabilities across IT workflows and processes
  • Partner with People and Security teams on onboarding, role changes, access updates, and offboarding
  • Create technical documentation, knowledge articles, and runbooks
  • Monitor internal systems and infrastructure health, performance, availability, and stability
  • Manage Skillable’s Azure environment using Infrastructure as Code
  • Integrate systems using SAML, OIDC, APIs, and identity and automation technologies
  • Support company values through positive stakeholder interactions
  • Participate in strategic initiatives and cross-functional projects as required

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (information technology, computer science, etc.) or equivalent work experience
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in IT engineering
  • Hands-on experience supporting identity, devices, internal applications, complex technical issues, IT automation, and escalations
  • Experience identifying and implementing AI and automation opportunities to improve IT processes and productivity
  • Hands-on experience building or deploying AI-powered tools, automations, or agentic workflows
  • Understanding of AI governance, including access controls, security guardrails, usage monitoring, and cost management
  • Experience managing Microsoft 365, Entra ID, and Intune
  • Experience supporting Windows and Mac devices with MDM tools such as Intune or Iru
  • Working knowledge of single sign-on, MFA, and conditional access
  • Proficiency scripting and automating with PowerShell
  • Strong troubleshooting across accounts, devices, networks, and applications
  • Ability to contribute effectively with minimal supervision in a remote team
  • Demonstrated ability to improve internal IT systems and processes through technology and automation
  • Experience working cross-functionally and promoting collaborative partnerships
  • Ability to present technical issues clearly to non-technical audiences and all organizational levels
  • Ability to prioritize workload, manage projects, and meet deadlines
  • Strong Microsoft suite experience, including Teams or similar web conferencing and internal communication software
  • Thorough understanding of business operations and processes, or willingness to learn expeditiously
  • Experience with AI-assisted IT workflows, Python, Power Automate, Bash, and Microsoft certifications (MS-900, MD-102, MS-102) appreciated but not strictly required
  • Authorization to work in the United States
  • Primary residence in one of the eligible states: AZ, CA, CO, FL, GA, ID, IN, KY, MA, ME, MI, MO, NC, ND, NE, NH, NV, NY, OH, OK, SC, TN, TX, UT, WA, WI
  • Remote home office with privacy and focus for frequent video and voice calls
  • Ability to use a PC and phone continuously throughout the day
  • Ability to travel periodically, up to approximately 10% of the time
