About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Collaborate with product managers to review acceptance criteria and user stories before development begins
- Flag gaps, ambiguities, and untestable requirements early
- Design and write thorough test cases based on user flows, edge cases, and risk
- Work alongside developers throughout the build
- Review test coverage and participate in pull request reviews
- Ensure nothing ships untested
- Execute disciplined exploratory testing beyond scripted test cases
- Track and interpret bug rates, test coverage, and defect escape patterns
- Bring quality signals into team conversations
- Communicate quality findings clearly to product, engineering, and leadership
- Contribute to and improve test automation coverage
- Help shape automation standards for the team
Requirements
What you’ll need- Strong foundation in test case design and deep QA experience from product design to launch
- AI-forward approach to testing; strong demonstrated use of Claude, Replit, Sigma, and other AI-first tooling
- Strong comfort with test automation frameworks such as Playwright, Selenium, Appium, or similar
- Understanding of how automation fits into a broader quality strategy
- Ability to read requirements critically and identify missing, ambiguous, or problematic elements before testing begins
- Experience with exploratory and risk-based testing
- Comfortable working closely with developers, reviewing code changes for testability, participating in pull request reviews, and building shared ownership of quality
- Ability to interpret defect trends, test coverage gaps, and production escapes
- Strong communication skills across engineers, product managers, and leadership
- Familiarity with Azure DevOps or similar agile project tracking tools
- For hybrid employees, ability to work from Austin or Toronto and come into the office 2 days per week
- For remote employees, residence in one of the eligible states: Alabama, California, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Texas, or Virginia
