About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Provide leadership and technical expertise within the engineering vertical
Build and lead one or more teams delivering software while adhering to and contributing to engineering best practices
Manage, coach, and develop engineers across mobile and backend platforms
Clarify technical requirements, negotiate priorities, and manage projects through daily scrum activities
Partner with product and design to create an ambitious, achievable roadmap for executives and stakeholders
Drive reliable team execution using objectives, data, KPIs, transparency, and continuous improvement
Drive adoption of AI-assisted engineering workflows, including development tooling, documentation, testing support, code review augmentation, and developer enablement
Provide KPI, status, and metrics updates to executives and stakeholders
Recruit, assess, and onboard diverse engineering talent
Align stakeholders across Fanatics around actionable roadmaps
Participate in architecture discussions, operational reviews, development workflows, and engineering quality practices
Remain open to occasional travel to Fanatics offices and other locations

Requirements

What you’ll need

3+ years of experience managing one or more engineering teams
4+ years of experience building highly scalable and fault tolerant systems
Knowledge of a broad range of design approaches and ability to deconstruct architecture for development by different teams
Ability to scope projects with targeted dates
Ability to discern essential, triageable, or omittable features and negotiate with Product Management
Ability to communicate complex technical subjects to varied audiences
Familiarity with Agile software product delivery and SCRUM methodology
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Solid report writing skills and ability to gather, evaluate, and analyze relevant information
Ability to work in an entrepreneurial, hyper-growth environment
Ability to work cross-functionally within an enterprise environment
Preferred: experience in a start-up environment
Preferred: strong mobile software engineering background
Preferred: experience with Kotlin Multiplatform and/or Compose Multiplatform
Preferred: passion for sports cards, collectibles, or live commerce
