About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Own customer-facing and enterprise-ready packaging from concept through mass production across aircraft, docks, controllers, batteries, attachments, and accessories
  • Lead design and execution of commercial cartons, ruggedized field and transit cases, precision foam and molded-fiber inserts, multi-component kits, and accessory trays
  • Design packaging parts and assemblies in 3D CAD, including cushion geometry, cavity fits, trays, closures, and case interiors
  • Create die lines and drawings suitable for vendor production
  • Partner with industrial design, product management, and marketing on the unboxing and use experience
  • Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, battery, and material flow engineering to protect products and improve transport efficiency
  • Own technical vendor activities including RFQs, tooling kickoffs, first article inspection, quality criteria, and corrective actions
  • Select and design for corrugated, folding carton, molded fiber, thermoforming, rotational and injection molding, foam, and soft-goods processes
  • Optimize packaging sizes and dunnage with Material Flow and Logistics
  • Define and execute transit and field testing, including drop, vibration, compression, incline impact, thermal, and humidity conditioning
  • Ensure packaging compliance and labeling, including lithium battery marks, hazmat and carrier requirements, regulatory markings, serialization, and artwork across SKUs and regions
  • Support manufacturing and factory teams with pack-out processes, line-side layout, packaging BOMs, and work instructions
  • Investigate field damage and shipping returns to identify root causes

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Prior packaging or product development experience with a proven track record of execution, enthusiasm, and cooperation
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, packaging engineering, or equivalent with demonstrated academic excellence
  • Mastery of 3D CAD; experience with CATIA preferred
  • Fluency in 2D structural design and artwork workflows, including die lines and dieline-to-print handoff
  • Packaging manufacturing process design experience with corrugated and folding carton, foam conversion, and thermoforming required
  • Experience with molded fiber, roto-molding, injection molding, and soft goods desired
  • Hands-on prototyping skills, including knife-cutting cartons, hot-wiring foam, or producing samples
  • Ability to produce part and assembly drawings, specifications, and tolerance stacks
  • Working knowledge of transit and field test standards
  • Comfort managing vendor relationships, quoting, tooling timelines, technical negotiation, and supplier-site travel
  • Strategic decision-making across design, source, build, validate, and ship processes
  • FAA Part 107 certification within the first 60 days is strongly encouraged and required for certain positions
  • Experience with ruggedized or mission-critical cases is nice to have
  • High-volume consumer electronics packaging experience is nice to have
