About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Hire, onboard, coach, and retain the Solutions Engineering team
  • Establish clear ownership and territory coverage across the segment

  • Manage Solutions Engineering capacity and resource allocation across the segment
  • Own the technical win across the SLED Top 1200 nationally
  • Pair Solutions Engineers with Key Account Leaders
  • Serve as senior technical escalation point for critical pursuits, deployments, and customer issues
  • Support field activities and work directly on customer problems
  • Partner with Sales leadership on pipeline, forecasting, account planning, and land-and-expand initiatives
  • Systematize repeatable demo standards, site assessment quality, and trial design
  • Own site assessment quality and verify dock locations before deployment
  • Set standards for proofs of concept tied to active opportunities and measurable operational value
  • Guide integration and airspace strategy, including CAD, dispatch, video and evidence management, streaming platforms, BVLOS approvals, waivers, COAs, and docked operations
  • Maintain command of public sector procurement paths, cooperative contracts, grant-funded programs, and public sector buying cycles
  • Represent the aggregated customer voice to Product and Engineering
  • Translate field observations into prioritized product requirements
  • Build enablement content, reference architectures, and reusable technical assets
  • Maintain first-hand product knowledge through frequent hands-on use
  • Support customer engagements, field activities, deployments, team onsites, and company events
  • Report to the Director, Solutions Engineering – SLED

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 5+ years of relevant technical experience, including customer-facing technical experience in solutions engineering, field engineering, or applications engineering
  • 1+ years leading a technical team, formally or as a technical lead with hiring and mentorship responsibility
  • Strong understanding of drone technology, Public Safety sUAS operations, and regulatory compliance
  • Understanding of Drone as First Responder concepts of operation and dock-based remote operations
  • Working knowledge of Public Safety technologies, including CAD, VMS, and related software platforms
  • Track record of hiring, onboarding, developing, and retaining technical people
  • Experience operating inside a Sales organization, including owning a quota and deal strategy
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Ability to travel approximately 30% of the time
  • Ability to lift up to 60 lbs unaided
  • FAA Part 107 certification within the first 60 days is strongly encouraged for all employees and required for certain positions
  • Prior public safety service as a sworn officer, firefighter, or agency UAS program lead
  • Experience standing up a Drone as First Responder program from waiver through go-live
  • Experience with dock-based, remote, and BVLOS operations at scale
  • Familiarity with grant funding pathways and cooperative purchasing vehicles used by state and local agencies
  • Working knowledge of Salesforce, Palantir, Databricks, or equivalents
  • Track record of building and scaling a technical team through rapid growth
