About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Own quality across the camera supply base, including lenses, coatings, actuators, image sensors, mechanical parts, and assembled modules
  • Conduct supplier assessments and on-site audits covering quality systems, cleanliness, particle controls, process capability, metrology capability, and production readiness
  • Partner with engineering, manufacturing, image quality, supply chain, reliability, and quality teams throughout hardware product development
  • Influence camera and lens designs through DFM/DFA reviews, opto-mechanical and statistical tolerance analysis, and design risk assessment
  • Drive supplier qualification activities including process audits, FAI, PVT, and manufacturing readiness reviews
  • Lead supplier quality planning through prototype, pre-production, and mass production using control plans, PFMEAs, process validations, calibration strategy, and outgoing quality strategies
  • Own supplier optical end-of-line test strategy, including MTF/SFR, distortion, field curvature and tilt, relative illumination, stray light, flare and ghosting, shading, defective pixels, particle, and cosmetic criteria
  • Drive quality and manufacturing readiness for thermal imaging modules, including calibration and module-level integration
  • Manage SCARs, 8D investigations, containment actions, and root cause analysis
  • Develop and maintain supplier scorecards and KPIs for quality, yield, reliability, and responsiveness
  • Analyze factory and field quality data to identify trends and mitigate supplier risks
  • Validate that corrective actions for design or process changes are sustainable across affected lines, tools, and sites
  • Recommend alternative materials, adhesives, coatings, or process approaches
  • Collaborate with suppliers to implement inspection, test, and process-control methodologies for optically critical dimensions

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Optical, Mechanical, Electrical, or Manufacturing Engineering, Physics, or equivalent practical experience
  • 5+ years in supplier quality, manufacturing, or product engineering for camera modules, lenses, or optical assemblies, including hands-on experience at supplier factories
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills
  • Experience developing, qualifying, and managing camera and optics suppliers across multiple geographies
  • Experience in high-volume, high-complexity consumer electronics, automotive, aerospace, robotics, or similar industries
  • Deep knowledge of camera module and lens manufacturing
  • Familiarity with injection molding, glass lens fabrication, AR/IR coating deposition, barrel assembly, active alignment, adhesive cure, dispensing, sensor attach, wire bond or flip chip, VCM and actuator assembly, and optical end-of-line test
  • In-depth knowledge of image sensors, ISP behavior, and image quality metrics
  • Familiarity with optical simulation and analysis tools such as Zemax or Code V
  • Working knowledge of thermal imaging systems, including uncooled infrared sensors, infrared optics and materials, NETD, responsivity, NUC, bad-pixel correction, gain and dynamic-range calibration, thermal drift, and temperature effects on image quality
  • Experience interpreting optical prescriptions, opto-mechanical drawings, GD&T, ISO 10110 notation, assembly drawings, and engineering documentation
