About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead and grow SkyWatch’s 3D data products and subsequent elevation, vessel tracking and location-based vector data products
- Connect data products to discovery, purchasing and publishing so customers can find, order and receive them independently
- Integrate third-party processing and data providers upstream, and GIS platforms and marketplaces downstream
- Select partners and sources for elevation, AIS vessel tracking and location-based vector data based on fit, quality and cost
- Build geospatial applications demonstrating combined 3D, AIS, road traffic, weather and GNSS radio occultation data
- Deliver elevation products to defence and industry standards for offline drones, vessels and autonomous systems
- Own automated quality control, accuracy, datums and documentation against customer specifications
- Support in-house image processing for other imagery sources when needed
- Use AI agents to write, test and run integration and pipeline code and automate output checks
- Work with image processing teams and serve commercial GIS users, cities and defence customers
Requirements
What you’ll need- 6+ years as a software engineer, including 3+ years on geospatial data, platforms or applications
- Production experience with cloud-native geospatial technologies: COG, GeoParquet, Zarr, STAC, GDAL, rasterio or similar, containers, object storage, and batch or distributed compute
- Experience integrating third-party data and processing services and delivering data into customer platforms
- Working understanding of 3D, elevation and vector data, coordinate systems and vertical datums
- Experience building geospatial applications on 3D data using CesiumJS, ArcGIS Maps SDK for JavaScript or deck.gl
- Evidence of using AI tools to multiply engineering output
- Public code or open-source contributions strongly preferred
- Experience producing or publishing 3D and elevation products strongly preferred
- Working knowledge of OGC standards preferred: 3D Tiles, I3S, CityGML or CityJSON, GeoPackage, OGC API Features and Tiles
- Sensor fusion and building for degraded and denied environments preferred
- Knowledge of defence geospatial standards such as DTED, DGIWG and GeoPackage preferred
- Based in Canada and willing to undergo Government of Canada security screening preferred
