About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Diagnose and repair commercial kitchen equipment at restaurants, hotels, hospitals, and other commercial facilities
- Perform preventive maintenance to help customers avoid equipment failures and costly downtime
- Use wiring diagrams, schematics, and diagnostic tools to identify electrical, mechanical, and refrigeration issues
- Explain problems, required repairs, and equipment-maintenance practices to customers
- Manage daily service assignments independently
- Complete accurate service records
- Communicate with customers and the service team
- Participate in an emergency on-call rotation, including nights and weekends
- Travel overnight occasionally as assigned
- Follow safe work practices around hazardous equipment and conditions
Requirements
What you’ll need- At least one year of technical experience in commercial kitchen equipment, refrigeration, HVAC, appliance repair, or a related military technical role
- Hands-on troubleshooting skills and mechanical aptitude
- Ability to read diagrams and schematics and work independently
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience repairing commercial cooking, refrigeration, or warewashing equipment is especially valuable
- Relevant technical training and certifications, including EPA or CFESA, are preferred
- Ability to perform frequent kneeling, bending, squatting, pushing, pulling, and reaching
- Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 70 pounds
- Ability to work around electricity, gas, steam, hot surfaces, moving equipment, pressurized steam, open flames, liquids, and electrical hazards
- Ability to work in damp, humid, or freezing conditions
- Ability to work on ladders, rooftops, and occasionally elevated or precarious locations
