About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair commercial cooking, refrigeration, warewashing, and specialty food service equipment
  • Use diagrams, schematics, and mechanical aptitude to solve equipment problems
  • Build relationships with restaurant and hospitality managers
  • Explain repair needs and recommend solutions to help prevent equipment failures
  • Manage daily service schedule and prioritize calls
  • Work independently while staying connected with the team
  • Participate in emergency on-call rotation, including nights and weekends
  • Service commercial kitchen equipment for restaurants, hotels, hospitals, and other businesses throughout Hampton Roads

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least one year of technical experience in refrigeration, appliance repair, kitchen equipment, HVAC, or technical military service
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable motor vehicle record
  • Willingness and availability to participate in evening and weekend emergency on-call rotation
  • Availability for occasional overnight travel as assigned
  • Authorization to work in the United States without current or future immigration sponsorship
  • Commercial refrigeration or commercial cooking equipment repair experience is advantageous
  • Relevant technical training, licenses, or certifications, including EPA or CFESA, is advantageous
  • Ability to prioritize, make sound decisions, and work independently with minimal supervision
  • Customer-focused approach
  • Ability to frequently kneel, bend, squat, push, pull, and reach
  • Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 70 pounds
  • Ability to work around moving mechanical parts, pressurized steam equipment, open flames, heated surfaces, liquids, and potential electrical hazards
  • Ability to work in damp, humid, or freezing conditions
  • Ability to work on ladders and roofs and occasionally in high or precarious locations
