About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain commercial HVAC and refrigeration equipment
- Service rooftop units, split systems, package units, walk-in coolers and freezers, reach-ins, ice machines, and other commercial HVAC/R equipment
- Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, controls, airflow, and refrigeration-system issues
- Perform preventative maintenance and identify potential problems before emergency service calls
- Read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and equipment specifications
- Recover, evacuate, charge, and troubleshoot refrigeration systems
- Identify failed components and determine appropriate repairs
- Communicate with customers about equipment conditions, repairs, and recommendations
- Complete service documentation accurately and on time
- Maintain company vehicle, tools, equipment, and inventory
- Work independently while coordinating with dispatch, management, and the service team
- Participate in an on-call rotation for emergency service as needed
Requirements
What you’ll need- Previous commercial HVAC and/or refrigeration service experience
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
- Working knowledge of electrical systems and controls
- Experience working with commercial HVAC equipment and refrigeration systems
- Ability to read wiring diagrams and schematics
- EPA certification
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
- Ability to work independently and manage service calls efficiently
- Strong communication and customer-service skills
- Comfortable using mobile technology to receive calls and document completed work
- Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation
- Experience with commercial rooftop units, package and split systems, walk-in coolers and freezers, reach-in refrigeration, ice machines, compressors, evaporators and condensers, refrigeration controls, electrical troubleshooting, leak detection and repair, preventative maintenance, and commercial restaurant, retail, grocery, or foodservice environments
