About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design, build and maintain high-performance reports and interactive dashboards, primarily using Tableau
  • Translate complex datasets and concepts into clear, simple visualisations
  • Develop scalable, maintainable and adaptable data assets
  • Establish and maintain centralised business definitions and standardised metrics
  • Partner with stakeholders to translate business needs into technical reporting requirements
  • Explain reporting to stakeholders in non-technical terms and support interpretation of outputs
  • Support data literacy through engagement, training and documentation
  • Develop and maintain optimised data warehouse solutions in Redshift using tools such as dbt
  • Collaborate with Data Engineering where required
  • Maintain data quality and reporting reliability, including managing upstream changes
  • Build deep knowledge of datasets and ensure appropriate sources and definitions are used
  • Participate in code reviews and collaborative quality assurance
  • Improve efficiency and reliability through automation, better data processes and responsible AI use
  • Review and rationalise reporting inventory, eliminating duplication and technical debt
  • Contribute to team discussions, retrospectives and planning
  • Create and maintain technical documentation for BI data products
  • Administer Tableau site permissions, project structures, user licenses and extract refresh schedules
  • Establish alerting and incident-management processes for data pipeline and reporting issues
  • Follow version-control and deployment best practices, including testing, tracking, documentation and stakeholder approvals

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 3+ years of experience in a data role focused on data manipulation, business intelligence and reporting
  • Proven ability to partner with stakeholders, understand business problems, translate requirements into reporting solutions, and advise on approaches
  • Ability to translate complex data for non-technical audiences and coach stakeholders to improve data maturity
  • Analytical curiosity and strong attention to detail
  • Ability to independently learn new datasets, technologies and methodologies
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent tasks
  • Collaborative team-first mindset
  • Financial services experience desirable; pensions industry exposure a plus
  • Advanced SQL, including writing, troubleshooting and optimising complex queries (essential)
  • Strong experience building dashboards and reports in a modern BI tool; Tableau preferred (essential)
  • dbt experience desirable
  • Python experience for data manipulation or automation desirable
  • Practical experience with AI assistants such as GitHub Copilot or Claude desirable
  • Git/GitHub version-control experience desirable
