About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Advise on pensions law and taxation of pension schemes
  • Work with the senior pensions lawyer as part of the in-house legal team
  • Advise compliance and operations teams on day-to-day Master Trust operations
  • Provide strategic advice on implementing new products
  • Attend some Trustee and sub-committee meetings
  • Help support Smart Pension Master Trust, which exceeds £11 billion AUM

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Experienced pensions lawyer, around 2 years plus PQE
  • Ideally with defined contribution (DC) scheme experience
  • Confident and pragmatic approach to problem solving and managing legal risk
  • Proven ability to deal with ambiguity and work well in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to meet deadlines within short time constraints while maintaining utmost attention to detail
  • Ability to navigate multiple internal and external stakeholders, including senior leadership
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience of the financial services regulatory regime would be an advantage
