About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage the day-to-day privacy inbox, triaging and routing queries within agreed timescales
- Coordinate data subject rights requests end to end, tracking one-month statutory deadlines and preparing responses for review
- Log and track privacy incidents and near misses through remediation and closure
- Maintain privacy registers and records, including the incident register, Record of Processing Activities and DPIA register
- Support DPIA screening, input gathering and assessment sign-off
- Support reviews of privacy notices, policies and procedures, retention tracking and privacy training completion
- Coordinate outsourced privacy consultants, track deliverables and ensure advice is recorded and implemented
- Gather evidence for audits and client data-protection assurance requests
- Prepare data for periodic privacy reporting
- Coordinate the team governance calendar, meetings, agendas, papers, minutes and action logs
- Track team actions and deadlines across stakeholders
- Maintain documentation, version control, document libraries and central registers
- Prepare reporting packs, papers and presentations for senior management and governance forums
- Provide administrative support including diary coordination, purchase orders and supplier onboarding
- Support onboarding and maintain process notes and how-to guides
- Improve team processes, templates and trackers
Requirements
What you’ll need- Genuine interest in data protection and privacy
- Degree in law, risk management, business or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
- Progress toward a privacy or compliance qualification, such as IAPP CIPP/E or Practitioner Certificate in Data Protection, welcome but not required
- Some experience in a privacy, risk, compliance, legal, audit, operations or administrative role
- Financial services, pensions or fintech experience helpful but not essential
- Awareness of UK GDPR concepts, or readiness to learn them quickly
- Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple cases and workstreams
- Excellent attention to detail when handling personal data and maintaining registers and records
- Sound judgement and discretion when handling sensitive information
- Good analytical skills and ability to produce clear reporting from data
- Confident written and verbal communication skills
- Collaborative and proactive approach
