About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Tend, operate, and oversee operator areas within the feed mill, including receiving, batching, production floor, and loadout
  • Follow standard operating instructions and procedures, including flushing procedures for batching and pelleting, with record keeping
  • Operate equipment and tools including computers, grinders, forklifts, and other tools
  • Prepare and maintain shift activity, production, sampling, bag dump, and reconciliation reports
  • Regulate and observe material flow to ensure specified products are produced
  • Perform daily feed, bulk, and micro-ingredient inventory
  • Perform housekeeping duties and keep designated areas clean while supporting coworkers
  • Maintain and ensure the safety of employees and company assets
  • Fill micro-ingredient and tote systems and maintain stock at batching and receiving areas
  • Comply with environmental laws, IPS and EMS policies, procedures, and ISO22000 Feed Safety and Quality Program requirements
  • Report environmental issues immediately to the supervisor
  • Read and understand the company emergency notification process
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred
  • Ability to read and understand safety rules, maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to recognize critical areas of the mill control feed/ingredient system
  • Ability to read and speak English
  • Basic computer skills desired
  • Must be able to work an average of 50 hour weeks, including nights, holidays, and weekends when required
  • Must be supportive of the mission of producing high quality pellet feed
  • Must be willing to learn and perform different areas of the feed mill process
  • Must be able to work weekends and holidays
  • Ability to work well with others in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Ability to be respectful, approachable, and team oriented
  • Vision abilities including close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
  • Frequently stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, or crouch; and speak or listen
  • Must tolerate extreme seasonal temperatures, grain dust, chemical odors, noisy conditions, wet and/or humid conditions, fumes, airborne particles, chemicals, and cold
  • Acquire and maintain necessary certifications, including weigh master and forklift certifications
