About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Own the platform that every SnapLogic service runs on, including the control plane, data layer, and operational tooling
- Set architectural direction for reliability, performance, and scalability across services, the data layer, and upstream dependencies
- Review designs for critical components and make build-versus-buy decisions
- Derive a roadmap balancing customer commitments, technical debt, and platform innovation
- Lead and manage engineering teams, including hiring, budgeting, recruiting, delegation, mentoring, career growth, one-on-ones, feedback, and conflict resolution
- Maintain accountability for the zero-downtime SLA
- Drive root cause analysis, SRE process improvements, production monitoring, incident response, and support escalations
- Lead migration of legacy EC2-based services to Kubernetes
- Own developer self-service, on-demand environments, and the internal developer portal
- Own strategy for approximately 50 MongoDB clusters and more than 60TB of data, including tuning, schema and access-pattern reviews, sharding, replica sets, upgrades, migrations, and capacity planning
- Champion AI adoption throughout the software development life cycle
- Design, build, and deploy AI agents that automate engineering workflows and improve developer productivity
- Collaborate with application teams, SRE, support, field teams, customers, and company leadership
- Translate platform work into business terms and serve as a credible engineering spokesperson
Requirements
What you’ll need- 10+ years building and operating production backend systems, including enterprise SaaS or PaaS
- 5+ years leading and managing engineering teams, including on-shore and off-shore teams
- Strong programming fundamentals, ideally in Java and/or Python, with comfort learning new languages and stacks
- Deep experience operating distributed systems in production, including debugging, profiling, capacity planning, and incident response
- Track record of taking systems from design through production rollout and owning them after launch
- Solid grasp of relational or NoSQL databases, including query performance, indexing, and schema design trade-offs
- Deep understanding of distributed systems, including HTTP protocols, distributed caching strategies, and observability
- Experience being accountable for an availability SLA on a customer-facing platform
- Hands-on experience running Kubernetes in production at scale, ideally Amazon EKS, including troubleshooting cluster, networking, and workload issues
- Experience with GitOps delivery using ArgoCD and infrastructure as code using Terraform or equivalent
- B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
- Experience with cloud infrastructure, AWS preferred, containers, and CI/CD
- Familiarity with observability tooling and SRE practices
- Experience implementing continuous delivery and cloud deployment solutions
- Multi-tenant public and private cloud experience
- Hands-on experience operating MongoDB or another NoSQL database at scale, including sharding, replica sets, query profiling, and index tuning
- Agile project and release management
- Record of accurate, fast decision making under production pressure
