About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts while facilitating the contract process according to university policy
  • Independently manage an assigned queue of contract requests and serve as the primary contact for internal departments
  • Perform technical reviews of low- to moderate-risk contracts for compliance with university standards
  • Administer contract review processes with department points of contact
  • Lead contract negotiations with suppliers
  • Liaise with General Counsel, Information Technology Solutions and Information Security, Marketing, Human Resources, and other university departments
  • Negotiate terms to mitigate risk and protect university assets; escalate contracts for additional review when needed
  • Communicate contract status and updates to departments
  • Summarize risks and exposures for authorized signors
  • Verify bidding requirements and new supplier due diligence
  • Maintain contract data, records, metadata, dashboards, and reports
  • Review and process contract-related purchase requisitions and verify documentation and approvals
  • Administer the contracts lifecycle management solution, including application security and data standards
  • Support technology improvements, functionality testing, and interconnected Workday ERP processes
  • Use approved AI and technology tools for contract review, research, summarization, reporting, and process improvement
  • Create and deliver individualized and group training on the contract management system and contracts process
  • Serve as a resource to the university community regarding contracting processes
  • Build stakeholder relationships and contribute to continuous process improvement and innovation
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Three or more years of experience
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent of experience in lieu of degree
  • Understanding of fundamentals of contract law and contracting authority
  • Experience working with counsel
  • Knowledge of accounting, finance, and marketing as they relate to procurement
  • Ability to explain value concepts such as total cost of ownership
  • Experience optimizing contracts processes and developing a contract management program
  • Experienced negotiator
  • Previous experience using contracts software
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong technology skills including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Self-motivated, able to manage time and priorities in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment with minimal direction
  • Customer focus and ability to establish relationships built on trust and respect
  • Must reside in and work from one of the approved states
