About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Own the strategy and long-term plan for data supply, including sourcing, suppliers, terms, and downstream demand
- Source and qualify proprietary data holders and own the inbound and outbound funnel end-to-end
- Define and execute qualification standards with Research, GTM, Delivery, and Legal
- Match opportunities to appropriate commercial structures and make the business case
- Lead executive-level negotiations, including business terms and critical legal terms such as sublicensing
- Manage partnerships through activation, development, sale, and renewal
- Establish qualification gates, pricing frameworks, standard agreements, operating standards, and function metrics
- Hire and develop a small team as the business scales
- Advise leadership on market availability, valuation, competing bidders, and strategic focus
- Build the data partnerships function from zero to one and carry partner relationships beyond signature
Requirements
What you’ll need- 8+ years of experience leading commercial dealmaking roles, including data or content licensing, strategic partnerships, in-licensing, or complex commercial contracting
- Direct ownership of negotiations
- Experience across meaningfully different business models or industries
- Working fluency in content licensing, IP, and data rights
- Knowledge of deal terms determining commercial value, with ability to partner with Legal
- Proven track record managing partnerships after signature with quantifiable results
- Experience building and leading teams with high ownership and autonomy
- Solid analytical and quantitative skills
- Passion for unlocking new capabilities with modern AI
- Demonstrated interest and strong point of view on the AI training and evaluation data market
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Ability to tailor messages from individual contributors to executive audiences
- Credibility in leadership discussions and with prospective partner leadership teams
