About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Define Snorkel's security strategy, goals, and roadmap across infrastructure, application, and compliance domains
  • Build, hire, and lead a high-performing security organization, scaling it as the company and risk surface grow
  • Establish security operating cadence, including metrics, reporting, incident response, and risk register
  • Represent security posture to the executive team and board
  • Own cloud security architecture and posture across AWS and other adopted cloud providers
  • Direct detection and response, threat modeling, and vulnerability management programs
  • Set standards for secure infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD, and secrets management
  • Embed security into the product development lifecycle, including secure design reviews and AI/ML risk management
  • Partner with Engineering and Product leadership to integrate security into the SDLC
  • Own application security tooling and practices, including SAST/DAST/SCA, penetration testing, and bug bounty
  • Design identity, access, and activity-monitoring controls for the non-employee marketplace workforce
  • Build and run Snorkel's compliance program and own audits end-to-end
  • Establish enterprise risk management, third-party/vendor risk, and policy frameworks
  • Serve as primary security contact for customer security reviews and questionnaires
  • Advise the CTO and executive team on security risk and investment tradeoffs
  • Partner with Legal, Sales, Operations, and Engineering to support enterprise deals and customer trust
  • Communicate security posture, incidents, and roadmap to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Report to the CTO

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 10+ years in technology security, including significant leadership experience
  • Director-level or above scope experience
  • Track record building and scaling a security function from a founding stage through a mature organization of 10–30+ people, ideally at a high-growth technology company
  • Experience owning security budget, vendor selection, and board/executive-level reporting
  • Deep expertise in infrastructure/cloud security, including AWS, IAM, network security, and encryption
  • Deep expertise in application security, including SDLC integration, threat modeling, and AppSec tooling
  • Hands-on familiarity with SIEM, EDR, CSPM, and vulnerability management
  • Experience with AI/ML-specific security risks, including model security, data pipeline protection, and prompt injection
  • Proven experience building and running SOC 2, ISO 27001, or equivalent compliance programs from the ground up
  • Experience serving as the face of security to customers during security reviews/audits and to auditors during certification cycles
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to communicate at board and engineering levels
