About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Set the technical direction and architecture of Snowflake's CI platform
  • Design systems that scale across thousands of developers, millions of builds, and a growing multi-repository codebase
  • Lead design and implementation of distributed CI services that are elastic, performant, and fault-tolerant across cloud providers
  • Partner with product managers and engineering leadership on quarterly and long-term roadmaps
  • Conduct code reviews, design reviews, and provide architectural guidance
  • Identify and resolve challenges involving build performance, resource efficiency, multi-tenant isolation, reliability, and security
  • Mentor and develop engineers across the team and organization
  • Evaluate and adopt emerging CI/CD technologies, tooling patterns, and industry best practices
  • Collaborate with adjacent Engineering Systems teams and engineering leadership on developer productivity initiatives
  • Build, debug, and deliver high-quality systems at pace
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with Snowflake's data security standards

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 8+ years of industry experience designing and building distributed systems at scale
  • Track record of technical leadership, owning system architecture, driving design decisions, and raising the technical bar
  • Deep experience with enterprise-grade Continuous Integration for cloud-based distributed systems
  • Strong passion for making developers highly productive
  • Excellent CS fundamentals including data structures, algorithms, distributed systems, and systems design
  • Fluency in Java, C++, Python, or Go
  • Strategic mindset and ability to translate strategy into executable technical plans
  • Ability to mentor and influence engineers through code reviews, design guidance, and technical mentorship
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience developing data systems or distributed systems internals
  • Hands-on experience with Jenkins, Bazel, ArgoCD, GitHub Actions, or other CI/CD suites at scale
  • Experience designing multi-tenant systems with focus on reliability, performance, isolation, and security
  • Experience authoring roadmap documents, technical design docs, project plans, and RCAs
  • Experience with build system optimization, including caching strategies, parallelization, incremental builds, and resource scheduling
  • Background in developer tooling or platform engineering organizations
  • Ability to work within commuting distance of or relocate to the local Snowflake office
  • Current authorization to work in the country to which applying
