About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Own Solance's payment rails and core platform strategy
  • Determine which payment rails, access models and partners Solance uses, including timeframe and cost
  • Understand and challenge payment infrastructure designs and supplier proposals
  • Ensure Solance is not quietly locked into external providers
  • Build durable knowledge resources, including maps, dependency registers and vendor scorecards
  • Challenge partner roadmaps, scopes and pricing
  • Evaluate potential direct participation in payment systems as European regulation evolves
  • Report directly to the CEO
  • Work closely with product and engineering teams and meet regularly with sponsor banks, scheme operators and industry bodies

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Ten years or more in payments, mostly on the banking and rails side
  • Accountable for payment infrastructure in production, not only advising on it
  • Architectural literacy across rails, ledger, settlement, scheme access and core platforms
  • Track record of challenging vendors on roadmap, scope and price, and winning
  • Current, verifiable relationships across sponsor banks, scheme operators and infrastructure providers
  • Experience inside a regulated bank, EMI or payment institution
  • Comfortable operating under supervision
  • Credible with both a board and engineering teams
  • Genuine passion for payments and their future
  • Willingness to be based in Dublin and travel regularly
  • No educational credential is stated
