  • Provide friendly, empathetic, and supportive phone line support for individuals seeking authentic human connection during recovery
  • Respond using person-first language and assertive communication
  • Connect with callers’ issues through mutuality and inspire hope
  • Support individuals experiencing loneliness, isolation, fear, lack of support, or lack of resources
  • Promote excellent customer experience with individuals and families
  • Establish collaborative relationships using personal experience, respect, acceptance, and a non-judgmental attitude
  • Serve as a role model and advocate for individuals’ preferences and needs
  • Help callers clarify and validate situations, responses, and feelings and identify effective coping strategies
  • Promote a recovery-based approach emphasizing hope, respect, self-direction, and empowerment
  • Provide information about appropriate community-based services
  • Use and disclose protected health information in accordance with HIPAA standards
  • Document services and significant interactions in the electronic health record
  • Identify crisis calls and follow procedures for connecting crisis callers to the crisis line
  • Operate within the scope of work for a behavioral health call center and support company-wide and call center initiatives
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 0-2 years of experience in the field
  • Lived personal experience with recovery
  • One year of office volunteer or work experience required
  • Completion of Peer/Recovery Support Specialist Certification, required
  • GED/High School Diploma
  • A comparable combination of education/experience and/or training will be considered equivalent to the education listed above
  • Knowledge of principles of recovery and Arizona system principles
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills
  • Good verbal communication skills
  • Ability to act professionally and maintain appropriate boundaries with clients and staff
  • Ability to report as scheduled to work, meetings, training, and job-related activities prepared and as scheduled
  • Ability to consistently demonstrate compassion, effort, and ownership
  • Stable and secure private home internet with a minimum of 50Mbps download and 5Mbps upload, and average jitter less than 20% of latency
