Senior Commercial Counsel
Solutus Legal Search. Serve as a primary legal partner to the Sales organization .
About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Serve as a primary legal partner to the Sales organization
- Structure, negotiate, and close enterprise SaaS, procurement, partnership, and strategic business development agreements
- Independently manage a high volume of transactions from initial review through execution
- Negotiate sophisticated agreements on customer paper and handle matters requiring fast turnaround
- Provide practical, business-oriented advice while managing legal, commercial, and regulatory risk
- Develop and maintain contract templates, negotiation playbooks, risk frameworks, and scalable contracting processes
- Help implement and refine the company's AI-enabled legal operations strategy
- Use technology for initial contract review, redlining, and workflow improvement
- Partner with Sales, leadership, and cross-functional teams on privacy, data protection, intellectual property, and product issues
- Contribute broadly to a lean legal team and take on additional projects as the company grows
- Report to the Head of Legal
Requirements
What you’ll need- Approximately 7–10 or more years of legal experience
- At least five years of in-house experience negotiating B2B SaaS and technology agreements
- Experience supporting a respected, high-growth, or data-centric SaaS organization with significant commercial deal volume
- Substantial experience negotiating sophisticated agreements on customer paper
- High degree of initiative, ownership, and responsiveness
- Ability to manage the sales contracting process independently and prioritize effectively during critical periods
- Strong business judgment and a pragmatic approach to balancing legal risk with commercial objectives
- Experience advising on transactional aspects of data privacy, including data processing agreements and GDPR-related issues
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Collaborative, low-ego approach and ability to build credibility with customers, Sales professionals, and senior leadership
- Interest in using AI and other technology to improve legal workflows
- J.D. from an accredited law school
- Active bar admission in at least one U.S. state
