About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Coordinate the bidding quotation process for customer requests and projects accurately and timely with appropriate sales associates
  • Analyze project blueprints to identify required specifications and prepare bills of materials
  • Submit project bills of material to vendors for pricing information
  • Formulate bid pricing strategies using vendor pricing and branch sales-margin objectives
  • Coordinate pricing strategies with sales and management representatives
  • Prepare and submit complete, accurate project bid proposals by submission deadlines
  • Maintain follow-up systems for tracking bids and quotations provided to customers
  • Assist in developing group bidding strategies based on follow-up feedback
  • Coordinate ordering and delivery processes after proposal awards
  • Monitor ordering activities for bid projects to ensure pricing and terms accuracy
  • Evaluate profit performance on quotations with the Branch Manager
  • Communicate with customers throughout the quotation and bid process regarding products, pricing, shipping, and requirements
  • Maintain current knowledge of products, inventory, substitutions, and applications
  • Attend product training classes, sales meetings, and manufacturer schools
  • Maintain ethical manufacturer relationships and develop manufacturer contacts
  • Negotiate special pricing contracts and document sales under those contracts
  • Maintain an updated library of manufacturer catalogs
  • Build effective working relationships with sales associates, support personnel, Branch Manager, and Corporate Purchasing
  • Inform branch associates about pricing changes and strategies
  • Support other branches in securing and facilitating customer orders
  • Provide branch support as directed
  • Provide a daily schedule to the location’s receptionist
  • Report observed customer financial weakness to management
  • Perform other assigned duties for workload balance and skill development

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor degree in business or related field or equivalent on the job experience as determined by Echo Electric
  • 3+ years of experience with electrical and lighting products and other related project material
  • Demonstrated customer and vendor relationship building and maintenance skills
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and concisely in written and verbal formats
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills
  • Ability to accurately read blueprints and spec layouts
  • Strong attention to details and demonstrated follow-up skills
  • Demonstrated time management and organization skills, including the ability to plan and manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Commitment to and demonstration of high ethical standards governing professional behavior and interactions
  • Proficiency in personal computer use and technical applications
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software, including Word and Excel
  • Developed knowledge of the industrial/commercial/contractor market
  • Demonstrated capability to develop strong interpersonal working relationships and work in a team environment
  • Ability to sit prolonged periods of time, including as a driver or passenger in an automobile
  • Ability to utilize a computer keyboard, computer monitor, and telephone for prolonged periods of time
  • Ability to lift, carry, and otherwise transport work-related materials frequently weighing up to 25 lbs. and occasionally in excess of 25 lbs.
