About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Install and run external WGS variant-calling pipelines on SOPHiA GENETICS' compute infrastructure
- Create a reproducible setup for benchmarking and comparison
- Evaluate germline variant-calling accuracy and runtime using company data and reference sets
- Compare external approaches with in-house structural variant calling solutions
- Investigate differences in tool performance and underlying causes
- Translate results into evidence-based recommendations for SV calling strategy, design, implementation and performance in WGS germline products
- Present findings to colleagues across the team and department, including senior management
Requirements
What you’ll need- Studying bioinformatics, computational biology, computer science, statistics or a related field
- Statistics and probability knowledge
- Comfortable working with the UNIX command line
- Experience analysing larger datasets
- Experience with Python or statistical libraries, or motivation to deepen it
- Curiosity about genomics
- Communication and collaboration skills
- Comfortable working in English
- Knowledge of structural variant calling, WGS or VCF is a plus, not a prerequisite
