About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Design, develop, and continuously improve robust, scalable, and efficient services that fit the overall system architecture
Implement new features and enhancements across SOPHiA DDM core components, public API, and middleware layer
Enable new integrations with external hospital systems
Support existing live customer integrations
Propose and implement enhancements based on customer feedback and system robustness goals
Ensure components perform reliably under high workloads
Optimize system performance, resource utilization, and task execution times
Contribute to improvements in system stability
Optimize deployment workflows and automate pipelines
Enhance infrastructure management for efficient and reliable application deployment
Implement and maintain monitoring systems to track performance and identify bottlenecks
Use Grafana and Loki to provide insights into operational health
Use AI tools and software engineering best practices to boost productivity

Requirements

What you’ll need

Minimum of 5 years' experience in a comparable role
Bachelor’s or master’s degree (or higher)
Solid proficiency in Java for backend services
Solid understanding and extensive working experience with microservices architecture
Solid experience with public APIs including API definition and change management
Proficiency with MySQL, MariaDB, and DuckDB, including database design and query optimization
Power user of latest AI tools and agent orchestration in all stages of the software life cycle
Familiarity with Linux environments and GitLab for version control and CI/CD pipelines
Experience optimizing system performance, managing resources effectively, and improving execution time, especially with large data volumes
Experience with scalable architecture, particularly in cloud environments and containerized infrastructure
Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools such as Grafana and Loki
Knowledge of HL7 and FHIR standards for healthcare data exchange is a strong plus
React.js experience for front-end development is a strong plus
Experience with Micronaut for developing microservices and backend solutions is a strong plus
Knowledge of Kafka is a plus
Experience in genomics is beneficial
