About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Carry personal responsibility for high-quality changes to a live IT/SaaS infrastructure
Manage key operational systems on which millions of customers depend
Create estimates and work plans and deliver according to those plans in an agile manner
Participate in a weekday/weekend on-call rotation
Occasionally carry out changes outside normal working hours
Monitor existing infrastructure, identify weaknesses, and propose improvements
Take corrective action as the first point of contact for incidents escalated from Technical Support, IT, and development communities
Escalate incidents where appropriate
Provide incident response and coordination, ensuring issue resolution and coordinating multiple resources
Publish software updates according to product release schedules
Monitor infrastructure and support load, take corrective action where possible, and flag issues with management
Support Sophos's customer-facing systems and cloud services as part of Central Operations

Requirements

What you’ll need

2-4 years of hands-on technical knowledge with Amazon Web Services (AWS)
Knowledge of AWS services including EC2, ECS, EKS, IAM, CloudWatch, SQS, SNS, SSM, S3, and Secrets Manager
Proficiency with AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, and Cursor
Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines such as Jenkins or GitHub Actions, or equivalent
Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform, or equivalent
Familiarity with databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, RDS, and Mongo NoSQL
Experience with monitoring and alerting tools such as PagerDuty, Datadog, CloudWatch, and Logz.io, or equivalent
Experience with Bash and Python scripting
Knowledge of IP networking, LAN, and WAN
Ability to adapt to new technology
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Knowledge of malware, spam, and network threats
Ability to interface with senior leaders
Comfortable working in a detail-driven environment
Familiarity with GenAI tools such as GitHub Copilot and Cursor
Exposure to compliance frameworks such as SOC 2 and FedRAMP
Legal authorization to work in India without employer sponsorship
