About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Own Soter's distribution and market development strategy across the Middle East North African region in partnership with the Director of Underwriting, MENA
Identify, onboard, and manage international and regional specialty brokers across MENA
Develop relationships with insureds ranging from digital-asset firms and financial institutions to corporates seeking specialty cover
Establish Soter as a preferred capacity partner across the region
Generate opportunities from broker channels and direct clients and route them to the appropriate underwriting team
Maintain a CRM-tracked MENA submission pipeline and report weekly to the Head of Underwriting
Provide product training, technology walk-throughs, and thought leadership to brokers and clients
Channel market feedback to Soter and convert technical digital asset risk knowledge into distribution capability
Represent Soter at industry panels, forums, and events across the region
Engage with regional regulators and industry bodies on industry-level initiatives in coordination with the broader Soter team
Channel broker and client feedback into product development and underwriting strategy
Identify emerging risks and product opportunities across DeFi, tokenisation, Layer-2 infrastructure, and institutional custody
Help shape Soter's MENA operation, including evolution toward an MGA or coverholder structure and regional team scaling
Engage with local carriers and identify fronting partnership opportunities to issue policies to local insureds quickly and compliantly

Requirements

What you’ll need

At least five years of specialty financial lines experience across MENA
Established relationships with global broking houses (Marsh, Aon, WTW, Howden, Lockton, Gallagher) and regional brokers
Track record of credible direct client engagement; crypto-native focus is a plus
Ability to distribute or place D&O, PI, Crime, Specie, Slashing, and Cyber lines of business
Specialty financial lines background is a strong plus
Digital asset domain experience is highly valued
Working understanding of digital asset risks, including custody architecture, MPC and HSM-based key management, exchange operations, staking and slashing mechanics, DeFi protocol risk, bridge risk, and tokenisation
Ability to think across product lines, jurisdictions, and risk types
Excellent communication skills and technical literacy for discussions with CTOs, custody architects, broker placement leads, and regulators
Comfortable representing the company publicly on stage and in professional settings
Fluent English is essential
Arabic is strongly preferred
French is a plus for North African markets
Based in or willing to relocate to Dubai
Right to work in the UAE or eligibility to obtain a UAE employment visa sponsored by Soter’s UAE entity
Willingness to travel regularly across the GCC and wider MENA region
