About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Analyse wastewater catchment performance
  • Model scenarios and propose and review technical solutions
  • Monitor intervention performance
  • Contribute to the technical design and assurance of the storm overflow programme
  • Provide technical input, options, challenge, steer and governance for AMP8 interventions
  • Undertake technical assurance of storm overflow programme benefits
  • Design monitoring programmes and conduct modelling and analysis
  • Measure intervention benefits and support justification of PR24 assumptions for approximately £2 billion investment
  • Support innovative analytical approaches with the Technical Lead and thought leaders across Southern Water, academia, the UK water industry and supply chain
  • At Principal level, provide technical authority, guide programme direction and influence decisions
  • At Specialist level, contribute wastewater engineering/modelling expertise

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Strong technical bias, ideally engineering
  • Experience using analytical tools/packages including InfoWorks ICM, SQL, R and GIS
  • Superior data analytical skills
  • Hydraulic modelling experience highly desirable
  • Ability to challenge colleagues and the supply chain to ensure robust interventions are designed and delivered
  • Degree-level technical qualifications (BEng/MSc) in engineering or equivalent experience
  • Evidence of identity and eligibility to work in the UK
  • Criminal record check (DBS)
  • Verification of employment and/or education history for the past three years
  • Successful completion of pre-employment checks and security vetting
