About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Serve as a first-line HR resource for employees and supervisors
- Respond to routine HR questions, provide guidance, and escalate complex or sensitive matters
- Provide first-line employee relations support, document concerns, assist with workplace issue resolution, and conduct initial fact-gathering
- Administer biweekly payroll and timekeeping operations
- Support performance management, corrective action, performance improvement plans, documentation, follow-up, and supervisor coaching
- Promote consistent application of HR policies, procedures, and employment practices
- Coordinate recruitment and pre-employment processes, including job postings, applicant screening, interview coordination, checks, offers, and onboarding preparation
- Lead onboarding and offboarding processes
- Administer employee benefits and retirement processes
- Coordinate employee leave and accommodation processes
- Maintain HRIS data, personnel records, and HR documentation
- Prepare routine HR reports and data for operations, compliance, audits, and decision-making
- Support employee training and professional development, including required compliance training
- Assist with HR compliance activities, postings, recordkeeping, audits, policy implementation, and employment-law compliance
- Assist with HR projects, policy updates, process improvements, employee communications, and employee-experience initiatives
- Maintain current knowledge of HR practices, employment laws, regulations, and HR technology
Requirements
What you’ll need- Strong verbal and written communication skills

- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skills

- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage competing demands, meet deadlines, and escalate matters appropriately
- Working knowledge of employment-related laws, regulations, and HR practices
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and related software
- Proficiency with HRIS and HR technology systems; Paylocity experience preferred
- Ability to maintain accurate records and manage confidential information
- Ability to support training, employee development, and performance management processes
- Commitment to humanity centered care work and delivering services within a trauma-informed and equitable lens
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred
- Combination of relevant education, professional experience, and demonstrated competencies may be considered in lieu of the degree requirement
- Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive Human Resources experience
- Experience supporting employee relations, performance management, recruitment, benefits, HR systems, payroll, compliance, and employee support
- Experience providing HR guidance to employees and supervisors and handling confidential or sensitive workplace matters
- Experience with HRIS and payroll platforms required
- SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP preferred
- Successful completion of all required background checks and clearances
- Valid NYS driver's license with required insurance
