About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Conduct health and nutrition assessments for WIC applicants and participants
  • Identify and document risk factors according to program requirements
  • Provide individualized nutrition and health counseling
  • Prescribe appropriate WIC food packages based on eligibility and preferences
  • Connect participants with health and human service resources through referrals
  • Develop and implement individual care plans and oversee high-risk care
  • Provide oversight and guidance to CPA and Nutrition Assistant staff
  • Coordinate nutrition education, including breastfeeding promotion and support
  • Refer high-risk participants to health-related and social services
  • Track high-risk participants’ progress and document outcomes
  • Ensure efficient assessment and education processes
  • Provide leadership in developing, conducting, and evaluating nutrition training for LA staff
  • May conduct duties of CPA, Nutrition Assistant, and Program Support staff

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RD/RDN)
  • Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctoral degree in Nutrition from an accredited college or university
  • Strong assessment skills in health and general nutrition
  • Understanding of cultural sensitivity and demonstrated ability to work with diverse people
  • Complete 12 hours of continuing education every year
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to humanity centered care work and delivering services within a trauma-informed and equitable lens
  • Successfully complete all required background checks and clearances
  • Possess a valid NYS driver’s license with required insurance
