About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage employee relations cases from initial advice through to resolution, including absence, performance, disciplinary, grievance, capability, conduct and probation matters
- Coach and challenge managers to take ownership of people issues and handle them confidently
- Support formal meetings, investigations and appeals
- Provide practical advice on employment legislation, HR policies and best practice
- Review investigation plans, correspondence and outcome documentation for accuracy, consistency and appropriateness
- Build relationships with managers, operational teams and franchisees across the network
- Identify potential people risks early and escalate when necessary
- Analyze ER data and trends to identify recurring issues, risks and improvement opportunities
- Support HR projects, process improvements and development of the People Services model
- Manage an independent caseload and contribute as part of a small People Team
Requirements
What you’ll need- Proven experience as an HR Advisor, Senior HR Advisor or HR Generalist, with experience managing ER cases through to resolution
- Strong knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice
- Confidence coaching, challenging and influencing managers at different levels
- Excellent judgement and organisation, with the ability to prioritise a busy caseload and manage sensitive or high-risk matters
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including producing clear and accurate HR documentation
- Pragmatic, solutions-focused approach and ability to identify when escalation is needed
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a small People Team
- Confidence using HR systems, Microsoft Office and HR data
- Experience in franchise, logistics, transport, distribution, sales or another fast-paced operational environment would be advantageous
- Experience supporting a geographically dispersed or networked workforce would be advantageous
- Experience balancing commercial priorities, employee experience and employment risk would be advantageous
- CIPD Level 5 or above and a full driving licence are stated as desirable/required
