About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manage the profitability of the West Region and Territory Business Managers (TBMs)
  • Manage TBM performance and provide feedback, coaching, and development opportunities
  • Lead sales planning and execution for marketed products in the region
  • Collaborate with Commercial Operations, Marketing, Medical, Legal, Compliance, Patient Services, Human Resources, and Senior Leadership
  • Allocate resources across the assigned geography
  • Maintain effective relationships with key customers
  • Develop relationships with physician practices, hospitals/clinics, and patient advocacy organizations
  • Act as an ambassador and provide insights to the broader organization
  • Ensure compliance with Company, industry, and government laws and ethical standards
  • Establish, manage, and coach a high-performing sales team
  • Develop and execute strategic sales and account plans
  • Meet or exceed quarterly sales targets
  • Analyze regional business performance and build short- and long-term growth plans
  • Develop regional strategies to increase brand access and support brand objectives
  • Hire, coach, retain, and develop TBM talent
  • Conduct field coaching sessions and provide performance feedback
  • Communicate competitive market intelligence to brand teams and management
  • Allocate and manage the district budget
  • Develop local opinion leader relationships
  • Collaborate with alliance partners
  • Monitor sales trends and competitor activities
  • Attend sales meetings, training programs, and medical conventions as requested
  • Align efforts with the business strategic plan to achieve long-term corporate goals
  • Perform other assigned duties

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s Degree required; advanced degree (MBA) preferred
  • Minimum of 10+ years of pharmaceutical sales experience
  • Minimum of 3 years in Rare Disease or Sarcoma and in management role(s)
  • Minimum of 3+ years in direct people leadership
  • Demonstrated successful experience in multiple HQ disciplines, such as Marketing and Managed Markets
  • Previous experience launching products or services
  • High science or business orientation
  • Strong understanding of Rare Disease therapeutic area and current trends
  • Strong understanding of pharmaceutical industry procedures and regulations
  • Strong business acumen related to Rare Disease selling and customer account management
  • Proactive ownership with strong analytical, strategic, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to build and lead successful cross-functional teams
  • Ability to lead and manage change
  • Ability to lead and manage diverse teams in a highly competitive business environment
  • Ethical leadership and adherence to corporate policies and required sales practice regulations
  • Ability to understand and implement business objectives and guide resource allocation
  • Ability to coordinate training efforts and support team product knowledge and selling skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Valid US Driver’s License and driving record compliant with company standards
  • Ability to safely and successfully operate a motor vehicle
  • Willingness and ability to travel domestically up to 50%+ of the time or more
  • Reside within a reasonable distance to the assigned territory
