About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage a designated territory by identifying potential customers, contractors, and distributors and creating a strategic engagement plan
- Seek out and engage new customers, contractors, and distributors to expand market presence and increase sales
- Develop and execute sales strategies to achieve or exceed sales targets, including cross-selling and upselling
- Prepare estimates and proposals for customers
- Pursue key accounts and meet or exceed quarterly and year-end booking/revenue goals
- Plan and implement sales activities with distributor customers
- Educate customers and prospects on product features, benefits, and competitive advantages
- Collaborate with marketing, product management, customer service, production, engineering, representatives, and sales teams
- Represent the Weil-McLain product line at regional and national trade shows
- Build and maintain relationships with customers, contractors, and distributors through communication, sales calls, demonstrations, product shows, and face-to-face meetings
- Deliver product and technical training
- Resolve customer issues and ensure customer satisfaction
- Maintain sales activity and customer interaction records using CRM tools
- Create and manage the opportunity pipeline
- Prepare and present reports on sales performance, market trends, and competitor activities
- Monitor and manage territory expenses
- Analyze sales data, customer feedback, and market trends and recommend action plans
- Participate in product growth opportunities, product introductions, product presentations, and technical presentations
- Attend industry events, conferences, and trade shows
- Identify process optimization, efficiency, and cost-reduction opportunities
- Participate in other projects as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- At least 2 years’ territory sales experience in closely related industry
- Experience with channel management
- Proven track record of achieving and exceeding sales targets and driving business growth
- Solid understanding of sales principles, techniques, strategies, and best practices
- Technical understanding of product features, functions, benefits, installation and application
- Prior experience delivering technical training
- Ability to work independently and as part of the team
- Exceptional negotiation and persuasive skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to present data and recommendations with excellent presentation skills
- Experience interpreting sales data and market trends
- Formal sales and marketing training
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Proficiency in CRM software and other sales productivity tools
- Willingness to travel at least 80% of time
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Driver’s license and proof of insurance required
- Ability to drive long distances
- Ability to lift and move product displays weighing up to 50 lbs
- Bachelor’s degree in sales, marketing, or related field preferred
