About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Lead, hire, and grow a team of platform engineers, coaching them toward product thinking and empathy for developers
Own the platform vision and roadmap as a product
Prioritize through direct discovery with stream-aligned teams and define what the platform will not do
Publish and maintain a team charter defining platform services, SLOs, support model, and team engagement
Measure success using DORA metrics, developer satisfaction, golden path adoption, and self-service ratios
Run the platform with SLOs, versioning, and on-call
Lead platform-wide migrations so the platform team carries the burden for product teams
Evaluate, roll out, and measure AI-assisted development tools across engineering

Requirements

What you’ll need

8+ years of software engineering experience, including hands-on work in platform engineering
3-5 years of experience leading engineering teams (4+ individuals), ideally platform, engineering, or developer tooling teams
Track record of running an internal platform as a product
Experience operating highly available systems in AWS
Working knowledge of containers, infrastructure as code (Terraform), CI/CD, and observability
Strong technical judgment and hands-on approach
Experience using DORA metrics, SLOs, and developer experience surveys
Excellent communication and ability to influence without authority
Ability to lead cross-team migrations with teams you don’t manage
