About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide administrative legal support to Administrative Law Judges within the Appellate Services Administration for the Arizona Department of Economic Security
  • Review and verify incoming appeals for approximately 45 DES programs
  • Prepare and organize hearing exhibits and packets
  • Analyze legal issues, jurisdiction, and appeal timeliness
  • Schedule hearings and process postponement and withdrawal requests
  • Maintain confidential paper and electronic case files and comply with noticing deadlines
  • Assist with case research and interpret administrative procedures and regulatory guidelines
  • Enter and manage case notes and documentation in case management systems and legal repositories
  • Upload legal decisions and dispositions and escalate cases to the Board of Appeals as necessary
  • Provide customer service and handle elevated docket calls
  • Adapt to evolving procedures while maintaining accuracy, speed, and confidentiality

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Legal/administrative experience handling confidential documents, case files, or legal proceedings
  • Experience with Gmail, Google Docs, Google Sheets, Adobe Acrobat, and case management systems
  • Ability to work onsite in Phoenix, AZ four times per month
  • Ability to work primarily remotely
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced legal environment
  • Ability to perform accurate, speedy, repetitive, detail-oriented work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to provide customer service to internal and external stakeholders
