About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Prepare, store, order, bill, label, and distribute medications safely, accurately, and promptly under pharmacist supervision
- Interpret and accurately enter prescription information into the pharmacy computer system
- Bill third-party insurance plans and resolve rejected claims
- Provide customer service in person and by telephone
- Assist the pharmacist with daily tasks
- Maintain and control inventory
- Clean and maintain pharmacy equipment and report failures or repairs needed
- Place daily orders for medications and supplies and communicate potential supply issues
- Verify received inventory against invoices and report exceptions
- Stock shelves and rotate inventory appropriately
- Recommend policy and procedure changes to pharmacy leadership
- Maintain flexibility and readiness to work at multiple St. Charles Health System worksites for staffing needs
- Administer immunizations when requested by leadership, in accordance with applicable laws, policies, protocols, and scope-of-practice requirements
- Support the organization's vision, mission, values, Lean continuous-improvement principles, safety, confidentiality, compliance, and customer service standards
- Perform additional duties of similar complexity as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- High school diploma or GED
- Pharmacy Technician license through the Oregon Board of Pharmacy
- Must be able to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required to perform the job safely
- Must be able to perform the listed physical requirements, including standing, walking, lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling, keyboard operations, grasping/squeezing, and speaking/hearing abilities
- Must be available as scheduled, which may include weekends and holidays
- Preferred: Six (6) months of retail pharmacy experience, or related field with experience in medications, sterile technique experience, and computer skills
- Preferred: Certified Pharmacy Technician license (CPhT) through the Oregon Board of Pharmacy
- Preferred: National certification through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or National Healthcareer Association (NHA)
- Preferred: PTCB Immunization Administration Certificate
- Preferred: AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider certification
