About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Complete a full-time, competency-based Operating Room RN internship
  • Participate in seminars, workshops, supervised hands-on training, simulation, clinical observations, and clinical preceptorship
  • Learn circulating and scrub roles through the AORN Perioperative 101 curriculum
  • Provide nursing care through the nursing process: assess, plan, implement, coordinate, evaluate, and document care
  • Work cooperatively with ancillary, nursing, and other patient-team personnel
  • Maintain confidentiality and properly release information
  • Demonstrate the Network’s Service Excellence Standards in interactions with internal and external customers
  • Comply with attendance, dress-code, network, and departmental policies
  • Demonstrate age-appropriate assessment, treatment, growth and development knowledge, and communication
  • Upon successful completion, practice in a St. Luke’s Operating Room Department caring for patients across their lifespans

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Nursing students with prospective Spring/Summer/Winter graduation dates who will be eligible to sit for NCLEX and obtain licensure before the internship starts
  • Experienced RNs who have not worked in an Operating Room setting
  • Current BLS certification
  • Registered Nurse with a current license to practice in Pennsylvania, or New Jersey for the Warren Campus
  • Ability to meet the stated physical and sensory requirements, including standing, walking, lifting, transporting patients, bending, reaching, and adequate hearing and vision
  • Submit full legal name, current home address, and employment history for the past seven years
