Key responsibilities & impact
  • Participate in a full-time, competency-based Operating Room RN Internship
  • Complete seminars, workshops, supervised hands-on training, simulation, and clinical observations
  • Complete clinical preceptorship and AORN Perioperative 101 core curriculum
  • Become oriented to circulating and scrub roles
  • Practice nursing care through assessment, planning, implementation, coordination, evaluation, and documentation
  • Work cooperatively with ancillary, nursing, and other patient-team personnel
  • Maintain confidentiality and properly release information
  • Demonstrate St. Luke’s Service Excellence Standards with internal and external customers
  • Comply with network and departmental attendance and dress-code policies
  • Demonstrate competency in assessment, treatment range, growth and development knowledge, and age-appropriate communication
  • Upon successful completion, care for patients across their lifespans in a St. Luke’s Operating Room Department

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Nursing students with prospective Spring/Summer/Winter graduation dates who will be eligible to sit for NCLEX and obtain licensure before the internship starts
  • Experienced RNs who have not worked in an operating room setting
  • Current BLS certification
  • Registered Nurse with a current license to practice in Pennsylvania or New Jersey for the Warren Campus
  • Ability to sit up to 2 hours per day and 1 hour at a time
  • Ability to stand up to 10 hours per day and 8 hours at a time
  • Ability to walk 6 hours per day and 10 minutes at a time
  • Ability to consistently lift, carry, and push objects up to 10 lbs
  • Ability to occasionally lift, carry, and push objects up to 75 lbs
  • Ability to transport patients weighing up to 500 lbs via wheelchair, bed, and/or stretcher
  • Ability to frequently stoop, bend, and reach above shoulder level
  • Ability to perceive object attributes through touch
  • Ability to hear normal conversation and high and low frequencies
  • Ability to see general, near, far, color, and peripheral vision
  • Submit application using full legal name and current home address
  • Include employment history for the past seven years, including present employer
