About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Register laboratory orders
  • Accession and transport specimens to appropriate testing areas, campuses, or reference laboratories
  • Provide exceptional customer service to internal and external customers
  • Clean and maintain laboratory equipment
  • Support efficient laboratory operations
  • Assist pathologists with onsite procedures, including biopsies and bone marrow specimens
  • Make and stain slides, build cases in the computer, and package specimens for transport independently
  • Correctly handle irretrievable tissue specimens for pre-analytic testing
  • Perform equipment maintenance, quality assurance measures, and monitoring under supervision
  • Perform moderate-complexity testing, including antigen testing
  • Process and incubate culture plates
  • Perform basic maintenance and quality checks of equipment under supervision

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma
  • Miners Campus: phlebotomy certification or successful completion of a phlebotomy program preferred, in addition to a high school diploma
  • Ability to complete a minimum of two weeks of on-site training
  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods
  • Frequent use of fingers and hands to manipulate small vials, pipette, and operate laboratory equipment and computer keyboards
  • Ability to occasionally lift boxes/equipment up to 30 pounds
  • Ability to occasionally push/pull equipment
  • Frequent stooping, bending, reaching above shoulder level, and stretching across a 30-inch work area
  • Hearing ability across normal, high, and low frequencies
  • General, far, near, color, and peripheral vision
  • Depth perception
