About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Assist with healthcare support for practices within the defined Bethlehem/Easton region
  • Conduct pre-visit planning by reviewing and updating patient medical records
  • Complete pre-charting of value-based pieces up to five days before appointments
  • Send messages to the Care Team when warranted
  • Prepare patients for examinations and escort them to exam rooms
  • Record height, weight, vital signs, medications, allergies, histories, smoking status, visit reasons, and demographic information
  • Provide patient care services, including cleaning exam rooms, maintaining supplies, cleaning and autoclaving instruments, and administering injections or immunizations within State guidelines
  • Coordinate with providers and Care Teams regarding discharges, emergency visits, consultations, resources, disease management, education, labs, testing, and specialist visits
  • Attend departmental meetings and participate in problem resolution and procedure analysis
  • Dispose of biohazardous and regular waste according to practice protocol
  • Maintain vaccine temperature logs, inventory, and medical supply ordering
  • Dispose of expired sample medication and stock rooms to established par levels
  • Perform administrative tasks including check-in, check-out, and opening and closing procedures
  • Bring improvement suggestions to Practice Managers and Providers
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives
  • Travel throughout the assigned geographic region of SLPG practices

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School degree or equivalent required
  • Graduates of accredited Medical Assistant programs are strongly preferred
  • Preferred: Two years' experience in a similar healthcare setting
  • Customer service experience is strongly preferred
  • Multidisciplinary skillset and flexibility in daily assignments
  • Ability to travel to practices within the assigned region(s)
  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time, up to 8 hours at a time
  • Occasional ability to lift up to 25 pounds
  • Occasional ability to push wheelchairs with patients weighing up to 325 pounds
  • Full legal name and current home address required for application
  • Employment history for the past seven years, including present employer
