About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Conduct pre-visit planning by reviewing and updating patient medical records
  • Complete pre-charting of value-based pieces up to five days before appointments
  • Prepare patients for examinations and escort them to exam rooms
  • Record height, weight, vital signs, medications, allergies, histories, smoking status, visit reason, and demographic information
  • Provide patient care services, including maintaining exam rooms and supplies, cleaning and autoclaving instruments, and administering injections or immunizations within State guidelines
  • Communicate and coordinate with providers and the Care Team regarding discharges, emergency visits, consultations, resources, disease management, education, labs, testing, and specialist visits
  • Participate in department activities, meetings, problem resolution, and procedure analysis
  • Dispose of bio-hazardous and regular waste according to practice protocol
  • Maintain vaccine temperature logs, inventory, supply ordering, medication disposal, and room stocking
  • Perform administrative tasks including check-in, check-out, and opening and closing office procedures
  • Bring improvement suggestions to Practice Managers and Providers
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School degree or equivalent required
  • One year of clinical experience OR graduate of Medical Assistant program required
  • Two years of experience in similar healthcare setting is preferred
  • Customer service experience is strongly preferred
  • Current BLS/CPR certification or obtained within 60 days of hire through the American Red Cross or American Heart Association
  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time, up to 8 hours at a time
  • Occasional ability to lift up to 25 pounds
  • Occasional ability to push wheelchairs with patients weighing up to 325 pounds
  • Complete application using full legal name and current home address
