About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Conduct pre-visit planning by reviewing and updating patient medical records
  • Complete pre-charting of value-based pieces up to five days before appointments
  • Prepare patients for examinations and escort them to exam rooms
  • Record height, weight, vital signs, medications, allergies, histories, smoking status, visit reasons, and demographic information
  • Provide patient care services, including cleaning exam rooms, maintaining supplies, autoclaving instruments, and administering injections or immunizations within State guidelines
  • Coordinate with providers and Care Teams regarding discharges, emergency visits, specialists, resources, disease management, education, labs, and testing
  • Participate in department activities, meetings, problem resolution, and procedure analysis
  • Dispose of biohazardous and regular waste according to protocol
  • Maintain vaccine temperature logs, inventory, supply ordering, medication samples, and room stock levels
  • Perform administrative tasks including check-in, check-out, and opening and closing procedures
  • Suggest improvements to Practice Managers and Providers
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives
  • Complete other related duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School degree or equivalent required
  • One year of clinical experience OR graduate of Medical Assistant program required
  • Current BLS/CPR, or completion within 60 days of hire, through the American Red Cross or American Heart Association
  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time, up to 8 hours
  • Occasional ability to lift up to 25 pounds
  • Occasional ability to push wheelchairs with patients weighing up to 325 pounds
  • Two years of experience in a similar healthcare setting preferred
  • Customer service experience strongly preferred
